On our next adventure to fuse cultural flavours with unexpected ingredients is to craft a distinctive soda drink inspired by Filipino cuisine.
I presented a carbonated beverage at the Southern California IFT Suppliers Night Expo on March 12th at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. I drew inspiration from a Filipino recipe featuring Tamarind juice. Tamarind, renowned for its tangy flavour profile, sets the stage for a tantalising concoction that promises to delight the taste buds.
For now I’m calling it the Tamarind Lime Mint, a symphony of flavours that dance upon the palate. Tamarind, with its sweet and sour notes, forms the backbone of this innovative soda, lending it a distinctive character. Lime adds a burst of citrusy freshness, while mint provides a refreshing coolness, reminiscent of a tropical breeze.
But what about sweetness? Enter coconut sugar, a natural sweetener that harmonises seamlessly with the other ingredients, infusing the soda with a subtle hint of tropical indulgence. This amalgamation of flavours promises a sensory experience unlike any other, a testament to the artistry of flavour blending.
We are developing this new product to create a soda that transcends the ordinary, one that serves not only as a refreshing beverage but also as a versatile mixer for cocktails and mocktails alike. Carbonation adds a playful effervescence, transforming the drink into a lively libation fit for any occasion.
Packaging becomes a crucial consideration, with options ranging from sleek cans to traditional soda bottles. Whatever the vessel, one thing remains constant: the need to preserve the carbonation and flavour integrity of the drink, ensuring that each sip is as delightful as the first.
